The Ins and Outs of Doors

S&J Door designs, fabricates and installs commercial and industrial doors that may be the best in the Chicago market—so good that the Frankfort company was running out of space, until they connected with Dan Walsh.

Dan is Vice President and Senior Commercial Loan Officer at CNB Bank & Trust, Oak Forest. He saw the potential at S&J Doors—and called in Wessex 504 Corp. Together we created a low-risk, long-term expansion loan package that led to S&J’s 15,000 sq. ft. Frankfort facility.

Pallets Everywhere

Most everything we buy travels at least part way to us on a wooden pallet—a fact which made the Cole brothers’ 2014 purchase of a struggling DeKalb pallet manufacturer a potentially very good move.

By 2016 the brothers were ready to purchase the 38,400 sq. ft. building they had been renting.

This year they’re awaiting the summer arrival of a new pallet nailing machine that will turn out 2,400 standard pallets per shift —and free-up workers who build pallets by hand to create higher end specialty units.

Leadership from Cole brothers Brett and John and support from a capable banker (Resource Bank’s Brian Ellingson) has made the difference. Of course, Wessex 504 Corporation is happy to be part of the success story, too.

Cole Pallet Services Corp. employs 42 workers, up significantly from the 22 employees on hand when the brothers purchased the company.

When the Office Seems like Home

Yes, it’s a house. Or was. This photo of Barrington insurance agency Jensen Jacobsen & Associates’ home office is an indication that not every 504 loan is a giant rectangle with lots of square feet.

Originally built circa 1890 and sitting today on the edge of downtown Barrington, the “house” is as smartly professional as the agency.

The 504 package that financed the purchase was put together by Barrington Bank & Trust Co. Senior Vice President Burke Groom, who collaborated with Wessex 504 Corp. The loan process, says agency head Patty Jacobsen, “was unbelievably easy.”

Adding On

Romeoville-based Worldwide Material Handling Products LLC (WWMH) is known across the continents for its wire mesh decking, containers and related pallet rack accessories—and for its service. “We pay a lot of attention to quality, inventory and service response,” President & CEO Vic Kedaitis says.

Thanks to careful inventory management, delivery is expedited from WWMH’s Romeoville headquarters and six additional centers across the United States. Customers include Amazon, Walmart and Uline.

Just three years after we teamed up with banker Rick Feller to help WWMH buy the 70,000 sq. ft. facility it had been renting, the company needed more space—a 60,000 sq. ft. addition to the Romeoville facility. (Rick is senior vice president and division head at Chicago’s MB Financial Bank.)

The WWMH, MB Financial and Wessex 504 team re-assembled for the traditional plans, reviews and projections; the concepts and numbers worked. The photo here is the completed building.

It’s even more impressive inside. Ask Rick to set up a tour.
